South Quarter IV will transform the Ventura Village neighborhood in Minneapolis by providing a new model for sustainable, affordable living. The multi-family development will incorporate the goals of the Living Building Challenge™ to create a national example for sustainable, mixed-income, urban housing by utilizing an integrated design process. Multiple benefits will be achieved through net-zero energy goals, load reduction through building massing and orientation optimization, efficient systems, building envelope performance, and a resident behavior training program.
To build engagement and inform culturally relevant design, Mithun’s outreach included a Cultural Audit – a three and a half day immersion in the neighborhood consisting of on-the-street interviews and focus groups. Collaborating with local firm Cermak Rhoades Architects, Mithun is the Design Architect and is providing full Landscape Architecture services.
